The companies agreed on the creation of a joint venture specialized in content production and distribution

National Media Group and Rostelecom Group have created a joint venture.

The JV will produce and purchase content, launch joint channels and distribute its own and third-party channels.

The parties also intend to expand their partnership to Internet technologies, platforms and Big Data.

The first step in the JV will be the creation of a channel distribution pipeline. Preliminary agreements have already been achieved with a number of major players.

Olga Paskina, CEO of NMG: "Partnership between media and telecom companies is an international trend since it provides unique strategic advantages for both parties. For instance, it gives access to expertise and unique content for telecom operators, and access to technologies and subscribers for media players. NMG expertise in the production, distribution and monetization of content, together with the technologies of Rostelecom, will create a content player on a new level."
