Discovery Channel and Animal Planet to be title media partners of the Golden Turtle Festival

Discovery Channel and Animal Planet will be title media partners of the 11th International Wildlife Festival "Golden Turtle". It will take place from October 13 through November 5 in Moscow and from November 10 through November 22 in Saint Petersburg as part of the United Nations Decade for Conservation of Biodiversity. The Golden Turtle Festival is the largest international eco-educational project aimed at raising public awareness of the beauty and fragility of wildlife and promoting nature conservation. In addition, this year, MY EQUATOR Charity Fund is raising funds during the festival: the money received from the sale of tickets and souvenirs will be used to pay for surgeries for children with serious diseases.

The Festival includes a creativity contest, original artwork and projects related to design, painting and photography. Apart from the exhibition of works of nominees and participants of the contest, there will be a lecture hall, areas for concerts and multimedia, showrooms and souvenir shops, which makes it a unique and modern venue where the whole family can spend time in a fun and productive way. In the cinema, visitors will be able to watch Discovery Channel and Animal Planet programs about wonderful animals and their interaction with humans, such as "Save the Toucan", "Amba the Russian Tiger", "Meet the Penguins", "Meet the Sloths", "Meet the Orangutans", "Corwin's Quest", and "Man, Cheetah, Wild". To support the nature conservation initiative of the Festival, Discovery Channel also announced the "Nature of Russia" contest held in the official community of the channel. To participate in the contest, entrants should send a picture showing how beautiful and unique the nature of Russia is before September 17, and write some interesting facts about the object in the picture. Winners will be given tickets to an international exhibition of professional wildlife photography.

During the 10 years of its history, the international exhibition of professional wildlife photography has become a huge festival unlike any other in the world. As the Russian President has declared 2017 the Year of Ecology, the event has special relevance. Ambassadors of the Festival include Sergey Donskoy, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, Svetlana Zhurova, an Olympic champion and Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Artem Kuvshinov, Director of "Media Alliance" TV channels, musicians Alexey Kortnev and Anton Belyaev, TV hosts Mikhail Shirvindt, Maria Sittel, Olga Shelest and Tutta Larsen.
