Media Alliance company was founded in October, 2015 by National Media Group and Discovery Communications. The company's portfolio includes the worldwide brands of Discovery Networks family: educational and entertainment television Discovery Channel, women's interest channels TLC and ID Investigation Discovery, animal science channel Animal Planet, science channel Discovery Science, men's interest channel DTX and sports television channels Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and EurosportGold. Media Alliance possesses television channels of the Turner family: children's television channels CartoonNetworkandBoomerang and news television channel CNN.

In 2016 four television channels became leaders in their categories in the Russian subscription television segment. Within the framework of the BolshayaTsifra award Eurosport 1 was awarded as the best sports channel and Discovery Channel – as the best documentary-educational channel. TLC channel became the leader among the women's interest channels according to the ZolotoyLuch award. The leading Russian animal science channel Animal Planet has a 1.5 bigger share and daily audience reach than the competitors in the category "All in 18-54".
